Spain began to organize the World Championship for Formula One in 1951 formally Pedralbes circuit.And in 1955 resulted in a very serious accident and canceled the Spanish Grand Prix Alorteurmn that year.

And after a big effort from government authorities in Spain returned the Spanish Grand Prix in 1968. And became the race is held alternately between the Jarama circuit and the Montjuic circuit.

And in 1975 held the Spanish Grand Prix for Formula One on the Montjuic circuit. Where he was a serious talk during the race and led to the deaths of four fans, which led to the cancellation of Formula One racing on the Montjuic circuit. And became the Spanish Grand Prix held at Jarama Circuit.
And in 1986 moved the Spanish Grand Prix to be held at Jerez to extremely Year 1990.
1990 was the last Spanish Grand Prix to take place at Jerez. Martin Donnelly's car was destroyed in a high speed collision during practice; Donnelly was seriously injured and was lucky to survive. In 1991 the event switched to the new Barcelona circuit  , And is still the Tour of Spain for Formula One being the province of Catalonia, Barcelona circuit to this day.
